What could I do about this dental pain from braces?

Today I went in for my monthly appointment to get my braces checked. I had a loose ring on a molar and they had to yank it out and put a new one in. Also they put a new wire on my bottom teeth, the tightest chain they have on my top teeth AND elastics all day and night. To top it off its that time of the month and everything hurts. What could I do about this horrid pain in my mouth? No sores, cuts, nada. Just pain in my gums and teeth. What foods should I try eating?
